Who cares about the cost and taxes, prison is supposed to make sure people don't repeat the crime. Note I didn't put offense as calling the wife next door fat is offensive this was criminal.

I know im probably gonna get criticised for saying this and id probably feel differently if my family were run down in this manner, but im not sure jail is the answer in some of these cases tbh im not talking about this bloke in particular btw, he's a to55er.
Locking 'normally' law abiding citizens up with repeat hardened criminals can have a negative effect, people they wouldnt normally mix with are suddenly spending 24 hrs a day with them, it wouldnt be too hard to imagine them being corruptive, maybe teach them a few bad things or expose them to drugs etc. Have any of us, if being honest, done a dodgy overtake with slightly different conditions that couldve ended badly and injured someone?, you couldve been in exactly the same situation on a different day, would you want jail then? Personally in some situations, extended community work would benefit both parties more than a tax burdened prison sentence, then when thats finished a long driving ban and /or tagging for a few months so it becomes like imprisonment in their own homes. Just my thoughts... |
