Default Carb Overhaul in the Northwest?

The bikes only running on one, for some reason.

Hasn't been used for about a year. The usual suspects being checked/changed,plugs, plug caps, leads, new fuel, new choke cables, drain holes and as the ECUhas been reposition since last time it ran ok, the wiring for that is ok.

So thinking of getting the carbs overhauled. The bike is up in WidnesCheshire, any recommendations?

Thanks, Mike

Have you confirmed you're getting sparks on both cylinders? Can't recommend anyone, sorry.

I can strip and clean them for you but by sounds of it you'd be capable of this yourself.

Always thought of carburation as a black art, and kept awayfrom it, and my dad is doing the work "up the North" and he tends tojust waste money and buy new until he cures it.

Just got off the phone to my dad. He had removed the carbs and used compressedair to blow clean all the bits and pieces.

He's put it back together and it's a lot better. It ticks over nice now andis nice on big revs, but if you slowly increase the revs from tick over, itpops and bangs all over the place.

IMO hard to say, depends how often your dads done carbs like these, did he properly clean all the air jets and bits out of the carbs or did he leave it all in situ? carbs can look clean enough but if you havent got that tiny tiny bit out of one of the jets, your stuffed it will still run bad! done that myself. its best to use a decent carb cleaning fluid to soak all the jets wonce pulled out and work it in to the carb with a tooth brush - then air blast it out, i like to use wynns carb and intake cleaner since this stuff is high preasure and it surfice to blow jets out on its own. sorry if im teaching you to suck eggs

on carbs, it might be worth checking the pilot screw settings air correct (i THINK 3 turns out), if the carbs have been disturbed i would also be tempted to blanace them too

could be a vaccum leak i guess, could be that some rubber seal has maybe dried out and cause a vaccum leak, seen that happen.

it is likley to be old crappy fuel that dried out in the carbs though.

im assuming the airbox is A OK? im asuming all the fuel hoses etc look OK

you maye have some success in diagnosing by running up the bike so its starting to get warm and then shut it off, have a feel of each down pipe and see if one feels cooler.

Hmm could be flooding/runnign very rich, so floats not floating or stuck choke. Though it does tick over okay. Tricky without seeing it. As twowheels says, better to get them off and clean and check them properly.
