Default (nearly) ready to start welding

Got a package in the post today :clapping:

Also included in the parcel was a regulator to use CO2 canister with my welder, once I have that I can start trying to weld things, poor BaP's bike has no idea what's about to happen to it.

Paging Squirrel, fancy helping me **** something up?

Dont forget elastic bands for your cuffs, hot splatter going down your cuffs then rolling so you get a line of burnt skin is painful

Aww man! Totally jealous, haven't done any welding since my engineering apprenticeship. Can't wait to buy my own kit some day!

BTW are you using a mig welder? I'm guessing co2 is your choice of inert gas? How did this compare price wise to other gases?

What will you be welding?

Tip of the day: No welding in slippers. Trust me on this.

My tip

when the arc eye hits (and it will) and you feel like somebody is trying to drive 6" nails through your head do not get p1ssed. You will feel like a right nob sat in a&E unable to see and the staff thinking you are yet another saturday nighter. The drops help, but when the pads go on with the don't remove for 24 hours. have somebody about to make your brews and a butty and then imagine what it would be like to be blind.

Tip no2

Check what is behind the plate you are welding, Having melted looms that run through sills. and when the carpet sets on fire whilst you are under the car it is handy to have somebody to tell you to get the feck out.

Yeah it's a MIG got it for £32 at an auction

It uses these tiny little gas bottles which are between £10 - £15 a go

So I bought a different regulator that means I can go to the brewery around the corner and get a waist high bottle for £16. No brainer really.

Been looking in to and alot of people don't like using CO2 as the welds aren't as pretty as argon or an argon mix but what do I care, not like I'll be 'doing jobs for customers'.

: )

Just need to get the gas bottle now and get a fella around the corner to help me set up and get some practice in. I've got some scrap of varying thickness' to practice with
