This is what I found after a quick search on PC World. Probably find same one's cheaper else where, but it's late so will have a look tomorrow. They all seem pretty good spec to me, definitely things I would be happy to buy if I had the money.

Desktop PC (£299) - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/packar...52203-pdt.html

Laptop (£249) - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/acer-a...45118-pdt.html

42" Plasma TV (£449) - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/panaso...19641-pdt.html

Coming to a grand total of £998.96

These are all pretty good for the money, like I said I will have a better look tomorrow but these are the sort of specs your looking at for the money.

Over by £50 but you could use the laptop to stream films and not bother with the other PC.

Laptop £350 http://www.ebuyer.com/283159-fujitsu...y-ah530mrsc2gb

Desktop £200 http://www.ebuyer.com/283809-acer-as...-pt-semec-037e

TV £500 http://www.ebuyer.com/269743-lg-42lv...v-42lv550t-aek

depends on what you want to do with it?

TBH i would spend the cash on multimedia centre first e.g. TV, AV amp, speakers and a blu-ray to begin with then add rest later.

for instance this as your PC media streamer at a later date:

PC media centres are getting there but they are still no substitute for stand alone items.

start with a decent set up first then add later. for instance a decent amp will let you plug almost anything into it and use one remote to control everything.

How did you find it cheaper than me on the same site

Edit, mine has 2gb more RAM, not bad for an extra tenner

Mrs_Giggles. What kind of movies are you wanting to stream? If it's your bog standard low definition movies then a sub £400 desktop will do. But if your going to be watching full high definition 1080p blu-ray movies then a cheap desktop might struggle. It will really struggle if you want to watch 1080p 3D movies.

Gem get andrewsmiths tv, dont bother with a media pc just stream thru the xbox with tversity like i`ve shown Dave. The media pc would be used less than u will think, buy a 2nd lappie if u both want to browse the web at the same time.
