Ok, so I have bought my son an Xbox360 and will be getting him a Kinect as well (6th birthday)
Can you peeps recommend me some kiddy friendly kinect games please? Also, what is the media streaming like on xbox? My colleague reckons he has loads of problems with codec support. I have a pretty decent setup with my PS3 at the moment (Ps3 Media Server on PC) and I never have any issues. but I hear you can control movies with the Kinect. If that means no more rooting round for the remote then I'm game ![]() Will be hard wired into a gigabit LAN so no bandwidth issues thar ![]() |

The game which comes with the kinect is pretty good (Kinect Adventures), but the is Kinect Joyride if he likes driving games and my 8 year old daughter has Kinectimals which is pretty cool, you basically look after baby big cats and play games with em. If your after summit more grown up then sonic riders that is good, think the inner child in you would like that, even the new Forza Motorsport 4 is Kinect enabled but thats for older kids or me! lol
Media streaming is pretty good wirelessly connects to my PC via a bog standard SKY wireless N router and i get all my pics and videos thru Windows Media Center also streams HD movies via Zune aswell with no problems. Did you also know with the Kinect you can talk to your Xbox and tell it what to do. Simply say Xbox and wait for the box to appear at the bottom then say Kinect. Then you can say what you see bascially just say Xbox before each command. |

Just make sure you have plenty of room for Kinect.
Recommendation is 8 feet away but I'd say realistically you need at least 10 feet. Because our sitting room is set up width ways rather than length ways we can't use it at all. Just saying.... |

I've got to agree with Adventures. It's a blast. Also, Gunstinger is pretty fun, but try the demo/trial before you buy it, it might not be your deal.

Afraid not matey.
Kinect will tell you that you are too close. Best option is to try and find someone with one who will lend it to you for a day or two. My kids kept banging on until I showed them that it didn't work! Last edited by Gordon B; 28-09-11 at 12:52 PM. |
