Default Tyre help please!

I have D220's (stock) The rear needs replacing - the front is fine at 4K miles. I want a compatible tyre to the D220 as that is too expensive and not a brilliant tyre to boot! Any suggestions? When the front wears out I shall get a matched pair probably but for now would like advice on getting a back that is similar in grip etc and not too expensive. Otherwise I might have to ditch the front and look for a good pair deal. Thanks.

Avon storm 2's and pr3's are popular for the SV, as are bt023's.

Dual compound tyres aren't cheap but should get decent mileage (and grip) from them.

Personally unless you have stupid miles left on your front, I'd replace the pair.

OR---if just. replacing the rear put another 220 on it till next time and then fit a pair of your choice next time rather than have mixed tyres.

No disrespect but I only say this because you apparently don't know about tyres or you wouldn't be asking and it is the easier option.

A different rear could be much more adhesive meaning the front can wash out on you.

Thanks for replies so far. I have found a pair of BT023's for £171 fitted or Diablo Strada's for £184 fitted - both seem good deals for well tried tyres. I wonder if a more sticky pair still might be better as most of my riding is on fairly agressive road trips although the 2 ST sets mentioned have pretty good reviews as regards handling. I could just get one rear to replace the Dunlop and see how it fairs with the stock front but the pairs work out cheaper than buying 2 sperately. Hmmmmm!

if your on a tight budget have you thought about the contimotion's http://www.conti-bike.co.uk/default.asp?spid=25 or the road attacks http://www.conti-online.com/generato...attack_en.html

personally and this is my bias view i would stay clear of the storm ultras as they are not the same as the old ones or splash the cash and get pr2's pr3's

i have just got a new ultra put on the front and wish i haven't as i now need a new rear i wish i had gone for the PR3's but i will just get another storm for the rear till next season.

TBH you will find almost any tyre better that the wooden crap that suzuki put on as the D220 are truly horrid tyres.
