I have a 10 month plan, and need a road bike for some of this. NOT for track (I'll have another track bike, but may not be here in the UK...) but for road fun, so I don't care about top speed. It has to be fun to go out and ride, put a smile on my face, be ok for corners, be ok for longer 1-4 hr rides, be ok reliability wise etc....
So far thoughts have been limited to a T595 Daytona, or possibly getting my old SV back. Any other ideas in this price range? |

GSXR SRAD's, possibly a K1, G, J model ZX6R's, ZX9R's too, late 90's fireblade, CB500, Hornet 600 and 900, Bandit

Well I've only really done 200-250 mile blats at a time, but it's smooth, very solid and the front end is outstanding. It's a heavy bike by modern standards I think, and the rear suspension on mine is set on the firm side, but it still is a much much better ride than my standard set up SV. It really does go round corners like it's on rails. I don't get any of the neck and bum ache I used to get on the SV so I reckon it's comfy enough for 4 hour rides for sure. The jury is still out on the reliabity front through, I've had one minor issue so far, but it all seems pretty good. It's not quite as quick as a GSXR750, but it sure is quick enough for me.

A few weeks ago I put my zx6r up for sale here got some better pics if your interested. Think I got a really good deal at £1100 and will sell it on for what I paid plus I know most of the history of the bike since it was almost new

My old Sv is looking like a possible, linear front forks, hagon rear, recent new chain and sprockets, R6 throttle conversion, recent new fork seals, recent new brake seals, replacement clutch less than 3k miles ago. It still burns oil, but it always did that, better the devil you know etc!
Price isn't too bad, plus it's a curvy ![]() |
