Default Which helmet?

Hey guys,

I have just got into biking again after a few years out and am looking for a new helmet.

I am hinking either blue or black, lightweight and under around £300.

I love the hjc ben spies monster helmet. I am a bit out of touch with whats good and bad so any help or recommendations will be great. And ofcourse pics of your helmets will be good too

CHEERS !!!

Just bought the HJC Ben spies. It's good. Although it's limited edition and there is supposed to be a minimum price of £350..... Unless you can find someone willing to break that rule (I did). It's a bit more noisy and a bit heavier than my marushin 999RS. (1200g vs 1100g)

Shoei Qwest worth a look if it suits you. Very pleased with mine, pretty good noise levels, good ventilation, light, good pinlock visor with wide vision, nice quality materials, and good value. It has sockets for in-helmet speakers if satnag/music is your thing. Just a thought.

The main thing is get one that fits your head

Go to your local bike shops and bike gear suppliers and try on several different brands on. Get your head measured before you start too!!

You'll get a good all round lid for the £200 mark. AGV, Nolan/ Xlite, Sumony, Roof, Bell all to lids that are very good at £200.

Very Much this. Nearly all helmets today are good but go for the one that feels right and fits right.

One thing to add to this sound advise. Think of comfort after 3 or 4 hours.

I have the XR1100 which retails at £300 for plain or £400 for design. Hein Gericke will usually do you a deal, ask for 10% off and they don't even blink. Of they often do deals if you sign up to their newsletter.

Though as said, get one that fits. I had to argue with the gf the other month when she was trying to buy one based on colour despite me being able to twist it off her head almost.

Read some articles or watch some videos on how to get the best fit. Wear it for a few minutes to check for pressure spots. Remember you can usually get bigger cheek pads if you're close to perfection.
