Anyone else still to do the Christmas shop?

How sad is it that despite:
xmas works do
about a billion threads on here, (INC ONE OF MY OWN FFS).
the lights everywhere
the decorations hanging above my desk
the cards and ecards which keep appearing.

Only last night did I realise christmas is here.
We had carrol singers, I opened the door and at the crack of the handle heard them chime up. Admitnantly they caught me at a bad moment (middle of dishing up) but on seeing they were old enough to be doing it without adult supervision. I told them "do one, come back closer to christmas"
Only afterwards did my sister point out "Matt its the 20th" amazingly I shrugged this off, thinking ages yet.
Then the penny dropped.
I blame the fact we're having it thrust upon us so early in the year (September in some shops). So In september Im thinking right I've got ages yet, then at every other mention of it I just resume that thought...

Only problem been I've done that now for about 3months and only last night realised I've got 4days, or 3 if you count in shopping days and I've not bought a fecking thing.
Fortunatly I know what most of the stuff Im going to buy will be but no clue when I'll be able to go get it.

Come back nearer the time LOL...

I've been a bit sneaky this year, done things as cheap as possible - making double choc chip cookies for loads of people, bought plain aluminium food tins with twist off lids from poundland (look great quality, £1 each), putting the cookies in fancy plastic bags wrapped in tissue paper, printing out my own sticky food labels to customise the tins and then wrapping in ribbon. Also included various wines/crabbies ginger beer/chocolates to compliment the set. All in all it's cost me about £2-£3 per person and about 30 mins of my own time for the cookie tins. Saves buying expensive tat which no one will use.

Just so you know matt I still need a paddock stand (with hooks, got bobbins) but will accept the money if you don't have time to go collect..

My second to last pressie will be delivered between 17:12 and 18:12 today, my last pressie will be picked up from my sister on Friday. Everything else done and dusted. *smug grin*

Well I've bought some tins of heroes but thats as far as I've got. Shops are open late on 24th, so no rush.

i hate xmas, just an excuse to charge more for food and gifts that would be normally not needed.... dont get me started on new years eve!
