Default Making a fuel tank bigger?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how the pointy tanks are generally made bigger? My guess is to cut out the bottom of the tank and flatten it out with a new bit of sheet welded in...? If anyone can confirm that would be great!

I guess I would then need to modify the airbox to suit...

I suppose the other option would be to use a piggyback style tank, maybe under the seat?

I think the problem with this idea is you will alter the characteristics of airflow to your engine and thus performance and not for the better. Would be more interesting to know if there is another model of Suzuki that has a larger capacity tank that will fit the SV.

Thanks for the reply. I was worried about that... I would ideally like to make it a bit bigger for the MGP, maybe a piggyback style tank would be better then? I'll have to check the regs not sure if it's allowed or not...

You should be able to do 2 laps of the Manx on 17l
The Seniors do 2 laps on around 22l.

I think SV650Racer has looked into an endurance tank in the past

There is a great mod for this, but you will lose your pillion pad.

Strap a petrol can to the back seat if you are worried about running out of fuel!
