I had an off in August after someone pulled out in front of me. I missed them but ended up coming off anyway due to hitting the brakes and not realising I swerved onto gravel. Unfortunately the driver cleared off.
So six months on I keep getting calls from compo companies asking if I want to claim and that I'm entitled to differing sums of money. Initial gripe is that they never actually seem to have any details of the accident and just appear to want to get a load of money for me which means fees for them. Second gripe is that they must employ robots or possibly even idiots on their claim lines. I was fairly lucky in my accident that I didn't get more than a few bumps and bruises and that I managed to negotiate with the insurer to get more than I paid for the bike even after my excess was taken off (got a very good deal at the time). I tried to explain that I suffered no financial loss at all and that, morally, I wouldn't be comfortable in pursuing a claim for a few bruises. I also pointed out that it was people claiming in my situation that were a contributing factor to rising premiums. The response was along the lines of that it wasn't a factor as I would claim from the MIB. They couldn't understand at all that I didn't want any money that they might be able to get for me. Anyone know if I'm wrong in thinking that the MIB is in part funded by the insurance companies? Just to note that I see nothing wrong in claiming if there really is just cause, significant injury, loss of earnings, high financial costs etc. |

The one word " morally " says it all!
They have none and do not understand it - and never will.
