Boring Mortgage question
Any mortgage advisors or bank types out there, if I had a self funding buy to let mortgage would it affect residential mortgage applications beyond the amount of capital I'd have for the residential mortgage?

Not really, my parents were in a similar situation when they bought their last house. The bank apparently was keen for them to keep their existing property on a buy to let basis as it is considered a solid investment. You just have to be able to demonstrate that you can cover repayments on both mortgages should you get a tenant that is less that decent with payments.
