Default Quick cleaning question - paraffin?

Was just wondering, are there any parts of the bike that its not ok to get paraffin on? I have a big cleaning task ahead of me having just got my Triumph TT600 back, the chains been lubed with something resembling road tar and the underside and inside the fairings are caked in the stuff, as are the front sprocket and the wiring for the side stand switch.
Paraffin is the best thing I have to clean it with but I wasnt sure if there are any parts I should keep it away from. Your thoughts please... Thanks, kjx

I would guess tyres, brakes (including discs), probably not a great idea to clean the paint with it, I use for the chain and anything really badly gunked up, but most use either pledge or wd40 on a clean rag for things like wheels etc and brakes cleaner on discs and calipers.

Hmm if I'm cleaning my chain I always use paraffin with a toothbrush, never bothered with using it elsewhere on the bike although I've heard it's good on wheels, not much use on plastics. Watch out for it splashing in your eyes though, stings like a b1tch

Insides of fairings, chain and covers OK,and wipe off with a clean rag,for the exterior WD and some sort of polish----paraffin like diesel is light oil so keep it away from brake items and tyre treads
