I've been a member of svrider for a while, but I figured I'd venture this way for some ideas. I've sent out a few PMs, but I don't see any of them in my sent box, so I dunno if any have made it.
Anyway, I found a Street Extreme for really cheap and I'm thinking about getting it. I like the look of short cans, and the sound they give off. My only concern is the loudness. Dunno what things are like across the pond, but here in the States there are a lot of obnoxious Harley riders with straight pipes. It's illegal, but no one does much about them. I figure as long as my bike, an '07 SV650, is no louder than a stock HarleyI shouldn't have much of a problem. It sounds like the Street Extreme meets the noise standards in the UK with the baffle in, and I always assumed that European countries were a little less leniant anyway. So, what do you guys think? Is it just too loud, or does it make you more noticeable, but not annoying? Also, I'm wondering how to mount it. Is it possilbe to shorten the midpipe and have the can further down on the headers? If I could, I'd like to keep from needing to mount it to the tail as well. |

It'll be quieter than a harley. You should have no problems.

Quieter than a stock Harley, or one with strait pipes? I swear I could hear some Harleys from over a kilometer away. I don't need that much sound, but a little more sure would be nice.
I just realized that it's called a Street Extreme. So it may be loud, but it's still for a street bike. |

had the SE on my last bike and it was nice but better with the baffle in as it got a bit tiring after a while. yes they are loud but no where near as loud as a harley.

Nice. I do plan on keeping the baffle in. Stock Harleys are about as loud as I think a bike should be, so I'll go ahead and order that.
Thanks guys. |
