Default well that was a nice copper.....NOT!

going back into erdington from birmingham city centre and i notice a plain white astra van with no lights on at all. i'm a few cars back and no-one has flashed them to let them know.
i manouvere myself so that i am now behind this van, all safely etc and im flashing him. he indicates and pulls away to the left. i carry on up ther road and i get the same van come steaming up behind me while i wait to turn left.

he pulls alongside and its a police man. shocked was not the word.

"YOU SHOULD NEVER GO PAST A VEHICLE TO THE LEFT OF THEM RARGH RAGH RARGH" i then tell him that he has no lights on at all and it was dangerous. he then starts to threaten me with "DO YOU WANT TO TAKE THIS OFFICIALLY?!" which i take as he is going to try and do me for dangerous driving or something along them lines. i said no, but did say that its ridiculous that a copper doesnt drive with his lights on at night. he sped off and went down a side road.

really doesnt do the force any favours at all.

Like to see him actually do anything about your 'undertake', it wouldnt even go any further through lack of evidence.

Ive had two coppers in seperate incidents about a month apart threaten me with similar crap, I gave all my details and even said to the one ( off duty btw, returning home after a shift), "you and I both know you won't or can't do anything".

true, its just being a young driver/rider i really didnt fancy being dragged through all that malarky with the gf on the back of the bike too.

would be interesting to see if he would try the same thing with my dad or someone who is in their 40's. as this copper was only about 30 at the most.

there's always an exception to the rule

If you had your lid on I doubt your age made any difference.

+1 to no one likes being told they're wrong. Your only problem in this case is that when he waves his willy its got a warrent card on the end, you unfortunatly do not. Wise move to bow your head and let him continue being a muppet.

Was he a real copper? Sounds like a nutter who drives round pretending & telling people off?

Also I once had a copper shout at me and tell me he was gonna blow my van up in Blackpool during conference season 2006, despite me saying "yes I am just moving it now" all he wanted to do was shout at people & threaten them with his police super powers.

95% of them are good people doing a hard job so don't let this one guy spoil it for the rest of them buddy. Did you get his number?
