Default speedo problem

Help...looking for some advice regerding speedo failure so here's the short history...

Saturday put bike away all working fine , Wednesday decided to use bike for short trip but noticed when wheeling bike out no change in speedo reading it usually reads 2-3mph when being pushed.. never paid much attention and jumped on bike...still no change in speedo reading ( still reads 0 ). I have checked as much of wiring and connections as I can see all conections from sensor appear to be OK. what should I be checking next ????
bike is a 2009 SV650.

thanks
Kirky

it's not usual for them to just suddenly stop working they normally go flaky first. unless a tyre fitter had bust the magnet part of the pickup when fitting the wheel back on, it works for a while until the magnet breaks up. its a common problem.

another reason is the connectors 'fur up' but look fine on the outside.

if the dash is still lighting up and the bike starts without issue then it's more than likely the magnet in the pickup on the wheel hub.

About 3 or 4 weeks back when I jumped on the SV ('09) after sitting in the cold for about 2 months I noticed (after about 10 miles of no issue) the speedo fluctuating dramatically between about 1 and 20 mph when I was travelling around 40/50 mph. This kept up for 2 or 3 minutes then rectified itself before starting again. After another few minutes I pulled in and scrolled through my trip options on the dash before setting off without issue. It hasn't returned since in about 150 miles.
