Know this subject has been covered before but I've gone two teeth up on my front sprocket and really pleased with the result.
I do a long motorway/dual carriageway commute each day so wanted it mainly to bring the revs down a bit at these speeds (now looking at 4500 rpm at 70 or 6000 at 90). However, other than blasting away from the lights, I can't say I've noticed any drop in acceleration - SVs have a pretty broad powerband and are close geared anyway, so it's not an issue. Getting around 15 miles more out of each tank too. Also prefer it on country roads as it means fewer upshifts to worry about while overtaking - particularly when getting through a line of traffic or HGVs. Anyone else gone two teeth up?! |

I haven't but I'm considering it now. Would you consider it is more suitable to the lazier rider (Harley like - prefer lower more charactertisitic revs) rather than the screamy racey off lights type of ruffian?

H***** like?! Oh very dear.
Just to point out that nakeds have slightly lower gearing (is it lower or higher?) than faired bikes as standard. Certainly with the pointys anyway. |

Nakeds have lower gearing.
Have just gone up a tooth on the front on my GSX and it feels a lot better. I'm too old for traffic light grand prix these days so it suits my riding just fine.

Went up one tooth on the front, much better for motorway stuff, 2 might be even better if I did loads of motorway stuff

Yeah honestly chaps - apart from the initial launch off the line, can't say I've noticed any reduction in acceleration. I just keep it a cog lower than I normally would if I'm pressing on and no manicjazz, I'm no wannabe cruiser rider!
Like the twisties as much as anyone else, just do lots of motorway riding at 90-ish and felt like I was killing the bike. 160 miles before the fuel light came on today - was getting 140-ish before... |

Just like everyone else says. I fitted a 16T (+1) g/box sprocket on my curvey a few thousand miles after I got it, never regretted it. Often wondered what 17T would feel like.

I didn't mean lazy doing nothing riding, i meant engine note, since it seems to have a linear power band might as well strain the engine a little less. |
