Default Curvy engine same as Pointy?

Can anyone tell me if the curvy's engine is the same as the pointy's? Obviously i know the pointy is fuel injection but once the ancilliaries are off is the block and heads etc the same?

Pretty much the same, cams are different, pointy makes more power

Electrics are different for injection system

Has an oil cooler, curvy doesn't so its a bonus

Different inlet rubbers for injectors, but seem to remember that you can fit curvy ones. Not sure I'm correct on this.

Others will follow

Cheers mate...I have bought a pointy with an engine problem and i have been looking at engines on ebay and the like and the curvy's seem to go for less. Will strip out the engine later on to find out whats gone wrong and decide if i need another engine or repair the one thats in it. The guy i bought it off says that he's been told its either the crank or the cct thats gone.

Not sure I've seen an engine swap done that way round

I'd save myself hassle and stick with a Pointy engine.

More expensive because they're newer

Was thinking if the bottom ends etc are identical then a low mileage curvy would be a cheaper option but as you have pointed out about the oil cooler i'll have to investigate further! If its the cct thats gone i will just repair it.
