Righto opinions and suggestions required!
I have munched though the middle of my bridgestone bt-016, predictably as I have been doing pretty much motorways and not leaning the bike over much due to it being winter - of course supersport tyres no like that much. So with my front tyre being in pretty good nick and me being a bit poor I am thinking of putting a bt-023 on the back, keeping the bt-016 on the front. The plan was to try and last a bit longer and buy some michelin pr3's but they are a bit pricey at the mo. Soo, firstly anyone think its a terrible idea to have slightly different tyres front/back?. secondly, has anyone any experience of bt-023's? any good? or crap? Thirdly, and the reason I post here, anyone know decent/cheap tyre fitting places in/around Glasgow? Cheers chaps... |

Do a search on this mate, there's loads on it.
If you mix front and back, make sure the front tyre profile is steeper than the rear |

Okay cheers boss, on the profile thing, the rear is 55 - front 70, does this equal steeper with the larger profile on the front?

I ran mine on exactly that set up (23 rr / 16 fr) and noticed hardly any difference at all. So much so I switched to 23's all round soon after.

Decent and cheap is David at Hamilton Motorcycle Services, who also enjoys a good haggle on prices. The BT-021s I'm running at the moment he fitted for £170 the pair, hard to beat.

Okay lil update. Went to Bill the Biker as the quote was pretty sweet and turns out I can walk there in about 15 mins from my flat!
Good guy and he got the tyre for me and fitted it, with me dropping the bike off and coming back later, all for £140. Considering the cheapest I could find just the tyre online was about £120 thats pretty sweet. Cheers lads. |
