Default Faulty Thermostat?

I've not seen any posts on here about thermostats failing, but I think mine is lazy which is a tad surprising as my bike is very low mileage (4k). From setting off the temp gets to 94°C in a reasonable time before dropping to slightly under 80°C but then continues to go up and down between 80°C & 94°C.

Normal, or new stat needed before it leaves me cooking & stranded?

Mine does that on the motorway. I assume it's normal cycling of the thermostat, as it essentially has 2 positions, open and closed.

Sounds like it's opening.

Pre K7 by any chance? They seem to run hotter than the later twin sparks.

Mine does that rockets up then falls like a stone through a wet paper bag. I hate wet paper bags (quote Marvin the paranoid android).
Learn to ignore it... works for me.
