Default Starter Control Relay Missing.

Despite no mention in my Suzuki manual, I'm missing the starter control relay (SCR). According to the manual, the feed from the clutch switch is yellow/green and runs straight to the starter relay. According to the wiring diagram I found online, it's yellow/green into the SCR and yellow/black into the starter relay. The third wire from the starter control is a black/white earth. I have wiring for an SCR. If I jump yellow/green straight to yellow/black it's all good, the starter cranks, the bike starts.

And finally the question - can I leave this jump in place or do I actually need the SCR?

A loopback plug is standard - the relay you're referring to is only found on the US models, I suspect you're looking at a diagram for a Yankee motosickle.

Yes, defo a US diagram but I figured the provision in the loom meant the unit was there, or at least should have been there. Guess it's a one loom fits all job. Well that's a result. MOT time for me then cheers for the info.

Actually thinking about it, I think the same relay may have been used on some Euro spec bikes too.

Anyhoo, that plug is a convenient place to connect the starter lockout alarm connection. As standard it has a plug with two of the three pins looped back, which obviously is the same as a relay with contacts being shut - the two wires are connected together.

Spookily enough it was removing my dead Meta alarm that left me looking for what was missing.
