Oil Drain Plug - Thread Stripped
Have just drained the oil and the plug thread looks like it has been stripped.
Can I just get a replacement plug or is it likely the thread in the sump is damaged too? If so, is there a fix? |

Get it Helicoiled.
I know my old boss got his done by a traveling mechanic, so you might not have to get it to a dealer

it may just be me but that bolt looks like its already got the remains of a heli-coil stuck to it.
could you try and remove the excess material from the bolt to see if it really is a heli-coil. if its the coil part of the process it might just be a case of inserting a new coil or going up a size on the sump plug if the thread is clean enough. the problem with inserting heli-coils in the sump is that no matter how clean you get the area you will always get oil dripping from the hole which buggers up the bonding agent. |

As already said helicoil or re-tap the beast. Its an inconvinience but not the end of the world

Looks like it may be stripped, looks weird have a look in your oil drain tray for shards on metal that may shed some light.
to echo what Bib said, my local dealer will only timecert sumps now, because of the issues with Heli-coils
