Default Recommend me a good tyre

I commute and it drives me frigging nuts that i have to change my tyre when it looks virtually new!
So, whats a good all rounder that is good for commuting?
Or do i go for cheap Maxxis sports tyres and just get thru more of them?
ideas, suggestions, dontations all greatly appreciated.

On commuting, whne i used to into london, I used to get fair milage out of the z6/Diablo strada. Fair being, for me, 4800-5900 miles from a rear. Through london commuting is the hardest on tyres as you know. All the stop start, and traffic light grand prix.

However, the Diablo has been replaced with the Angel, and i dont hink the Z6 is any more, so not much help. How about Pilot roads?

Thanks chaps, i mainly commute but of course when the weather is nice i like to get out and about and give it some and perhaps fit in a trackday tho thats not high on the priorities at the moment.

The Z6 i didnt get on well with, i find it too twitchy in the wet. Pilots roads are a good idea, had the pilot power sports ages ago and they were nice, i loved the Diablos cos they were like superglue but they just dont last

Keep the ideas coming, sadly no donations have arrived yet, lol.

just ordered my 12th set of Storm ultras, the duel compound gives me consistently 9-10k from a rear, work well in virtually all circumstances, was looking at the roadsmart 2's, but not seen any reviews on the mileage as yet.

Cheers Mark.

A round one

seriously though pilot road 2's are good on mileage, haven't tried the pr3's yet so cant compare.

I wasn't going to ask cos I hate asking silly questions but I don't know the answer and its bugging me, so here it is: why change your tyres then? I'm assuming from the "still looking new" comment, the reason to change has nothing to do with tread depth, and that something about commuting and the general health of a tyre is at play here.

I do a London commute (28 mile round trip) so guess this is something I should know.
