Default Finding a blind numpty......

Well...a bit more serious than that

How would I go about finding out if someone who had knocked me off my motorbike in January had been convicted??? I know his name and the PC who dealt with my accident informed me that the 'offender' had indicated that he would plead guilty by post to Careless Driving. Now even I know that means he hasn't necessarily actually been convicted. I do know they only have 6 months to prosecute.

I have tried to get through to the PC but he never rings back. Last time I tried to get through the operator did say that he was on 'restricted duties' so she would leave a message but didn't know when he would get back to me

Is there not a list of motoring convictions publicly available (for Essex or anywhere)?

He admitted all liabilty but the appointed solicitors are draaaaging their feet.

Chris

Phone the court he would have been sent to, ask for court results section and give his name.

If no joy, phone the cops and ask for the bobbys Sergeants number.

Or write to the Chief Constable - I had an apologetic Inspector call me two days later after similar cold shoulder from the constable dealing with my wrecked car (he caught the perp running from the scene who admitted it). Don't bother going to the front desk - the civilian-on-a-power-trip on the raised platform (seriously, I'm sure it's not just Wycombe nick) will look down at you and say* they cannot help you due to data protection issues.

*of course it was more of a sneer when I dared to ask for help in getting the info I needed for my insurance claim! Not my fault the guy was in the back of the Panda before I got outside and PC Uncommunicative would not let me speak to him...

Trev, I just don't understand why some are like that! You have the right to the details under the road traffic act and he has that info on the end of his radio. I make a point of making sure everyone has the details at scene to avoid messing around!

He was very young and look so puffed up and pleased with himself that he clearly thought us taxpayers/accident victims were beneath him. To balance it his two colleagues who helped clear the scene were great, made sure I had PC Uncommunicative's contact details, and that I had the incident number. As you say BP getting it all out of the way at the scene is much easier than fishing back through records later on.
