In two and a half years of riding I am yet to drop any of my bikes, until last night. I came to a stop and put my foot down on the wet white line. Foot slipped out and the bike followed. I tried to stop it but knew I was just going to trap my ankle so jumped out of the way and let the bike fall.
Click here to see some pictures so you can see the damage... (Apologies for the close ups, my camera doesn't have manual focus and this was the best I could get) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ...As you can see there is no real damage. The scrapes by the right headlight are from a previous owner and the velcro is for my camera. The only damage is a small bit of scuffing on the cotton reel and crash bung and the rear brake lever is slightly bent up by around 10mm. Deffinately glad I got my crash bungs when I did ![]() |

Well worth looking into.
Specialy for short stops like me.

Same as you. Never had any. Never dropped a bike. But I know I'm living on borrowed time. Think I'll get some for my gixer eventually, since the fairing costs more than half the value of the bike!

Dropped my bike more times than I care to remember (I probably hold the record
![]() ![]() But I can wholeheartedly agree with you, crash bungs are worth every penny. Mine has been dropped on slopes, slid on tarmac, gravel and ice <5mph, dropped in a ditch and a minor off in the wet on diesel...and my Motorsliders have a couple of mm ground off, if that. I haven't (YET) broken an indicator, amazingly. And before you all tell me I'm too careless, it's more that I'm a tad too short for the bloomin' thing. I've had great practice picking the beast up though ![]() ![]() |

Cant recommend crash bungs enough, and other bits! New driver reversed into my parked bike knocking it onto the exhaust side. My bike is fully faired and the exhaust is a full system worth upwards of 900quid alone! With no crash bungs it would have been an insurance claim but thanks to them and an R&G exhaust protector there was only 200quids worth of damage which they were quite happy to pay!
I actually only needed to replace the brake lever, the rest I have left slightly scratched (crash bung, indicator, hero blob gone) which I will replace if I need to sell the bike some day ![]() |
