let me just set the scene for you.
my GF has got a saxo 2003 1.1 with only one key. It was ideal to get another set of keys so that if one was lost the car can still be used. Citroen car keys for a 2003 saxo have a chip inside the key which works with ECU so you can start the car. with out a coded key for the car it wont start. so here starts the problem I head down to citreon dealers Wilkinsons in epson area. ( its a big estate that do fiat, peugot, mercs etc etc). i head to the man at the desk and ask for a wireless key and a manual key. the break down is as follows - £20 for codes for the car from citroen (as we didnt have them) - £25 for a manual key - £60 for wireless key - £15 for the key insert for the wireless fob now i understand there is a £60 for the coding of the keys wether you get 1 key done or 10. the price is £60 for the coding assuming you pay for the keys. so it makes sense to buy two and make the most of your £60 the keys were paid for up front last week. this morning turned up with the car to get keys coded. after waiting 1-2 hours it was done. now here's the fun part. i was given: - one manual key with transponder inside it. this enables you to open the car door manually and put the key into the ignition and start it. - wireless key fob, this key fob opened and locked the central locking on the doors of the car. but does not contain transponder - one key cut/ stem which can be used to manually open the doors via the key barrels. now the wireless key fob and the cut key does not allow you to turn on the car as there is no transponder inside it. so ultimately i only have working key which will open the car and TURN ON the cars ignition. when ordering the parts i was told its a £60 for coding whether 1-100 keys are coded. so i made the point of ordering one wireless key and one manual key. after paying £200 to have one working key i was not happy. i was then told this: 'we will charge you £25 for another manual key and £30 to have that key coded' yet this is what i had asked for in the first place. as this £15 cut key blade is useless to me. I asked to get the manual key and for them to code it but they wouldnt just let me pay £25 for the key and insisted i pay the coding again.... WHICH WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF ORDERING TWO KEYS SO THAT I WOULDNT HAVE TO PAY TWICE. please tell me if i am right or wrong. its for my GF who's been very unlucky and here car is costing here alot of money insurance etc etc. and i dont think £50 for another key is fair because THEY DIDNT KNOW. PS. i hate sales people. they talk out their arses. everytime we spoke about money he had to use a calculator to make out he was doing important things. I have a physics degree you dont need a calculator to calculate that i am being screwed over!!!!! Last edited by kiggles; 21-08-12 at 11:20 AM. |

yeah i got the receipt for the order. but when i ordered the keys i made it specific that i was only buying two keys because i would have two working keys for the car. eg starting the cars engine. it just would have been nice to remote lock it

Look for a auto locksmiths, you'll get a straighter answer.
My local one is about £20 for a key and about £110 for a encoded one (New transponder, key and encoding). Sound like your being had as a OEM transponder and encoding from a dealer shouldn't be that cheap.

What NTEC said. be polite if you can, but point out that they have not given you what you asked for. Your reciept is your friend.
If its clear on it what you asked for, then they are under contract (or something along those lines) to deliver it. If it is not clear, then yes they have deliberately tried to shaft you. IN which case, yes call the customer support line. Also remember what is quite a lot of money to most of us, is not much to a dealer with a turnover of probably several million, or to the amount it would cost them to fight anything with ombudsmen/manufacturer/lawyers. The cost to them of just making you another key would not pay for enough lawyer time to tell them the problem. |
