Default Which exhaust and screen for Curvy?

Hey guys,

I'm relatively new and have been riding for only a couple years so I figured I'd ask more experienced riders what they thought. I'm looking to buy an after market exhaust for my 01 sv650 (not sport) in addition to a windscreen. For the exhaust, I am not looking for something too expensive (maybe $200-$450) and would prefer a yoshimura; any recommendations? For the windscreen, I'm looking for something that would enhance the aesthetics of the naked 01 sv. Furthermore, if there are any other relatively cheap ways to improve performance/power please let me know.

ps. I laid down my bike a while back, and am looking for websites or other sources that part-out sv's for cheap(er) prices. Specifically an instrument cluster and gas tank.

Cheers.

Default Re: beginner help please

to be honest a slip on can won't add much if anything to performance, generally if you want useful gains it's a full system; and as far as a nice sound goes, just about any make will do, as I suspect you aren't UK based pricing is not going to help from this side of the pond so pick the one you fancy. a couple of points you may want to consider, carbon cans are nice and like; but if you don't regularly repack them the heat will bubble the finish, alloy cans are the cheapest, but require a good amount of cleaning to stay nice, stainless or titanium are virtually maintenance free

performace gains on a budget? I'd suggest
airfilter/jets/exhaust system
ignition advance (stepped woodfuff key)
cam swap

and leave it at that, but basic suspension upgrades are a better way to spend your money, unless you're under 10 stone the front springs will be to weak for you (probably knackered now anyway) and the oil will need changing if it hasn't been, anything over 15-18k and the original shock will be past it's best by a long way to.

as to screens, the naked pre-K2 has a normal round headlight so pretty much anything for a "roadster" will fit, companies like Ermax/Puig/Airblade/Fabbri & powerbronze make various ones ranging from big clear perspex "cruiser" type which offer good wind protection, to something like the pointy (post 2002) naked has fitted as standard, so once again personal choice.

Here's a few ideas.

Cafe racer style

more cosmetic type

more like the pointy sv has

A little retro, but the chrome lifts it.

sort of half way between form & function

and this is the universal one, surprisingly effective at motorway speeds
