Default Front brake shims missing?

Just replacing the front pads and after removing the old pads I could find no trace of either shim! Haynes manual shows them. I take I they should be there?

Cheers.

Yes they are anti squeal shims, you won't die horribly if they are omitted.

What bike are you referring to?

I am referring to an SV650s K6 non ABS. I have fitted them without shims and added plenty of copper grease on the backs of the pads. I have tested them and been for a ride. Wow now I have some great stopping power. The pads were down to 4mm!

You just have to squeez harder with worn pads

YC is spot on! No dramas although you might get some squealing from time to time.
