Default New springs or whole GSXR setup?

This isn't the usual question...

On my curvy SV I've put Racetech emulators in the forks (I did do the extra comp hole drilling, though it's not the end of the world) and progressive springs. The brakes work well enough, prob could use some new pads. It does still dive a lot on the brakes, but otherwise feels okay mid-corner and on exits, I have no chicken strips up front and have left a lot of knee- and toe-slider at PifPaf at Rockingham Home For The Mental.

I'm not going to replace the old axe any time soon, so do I take the trouble to whack a gixxer front end on it, or should I just spin for some linear springs? The front tyre is on its way out anyway, too.

only thing your going to gain by swapping to GSXR front end is rebound adjustment. i would dump the progressive springs and get linear and a decent rear shock.

You'd gain better brakes and aesthetics too!

GSXR set up can cost a lot more though, and whether you ever get round to selling the old bits is another matter...

Got an Ohlins rear shock already. Not sure if I'd sell the old bits or keep them for a rainy day, depends how much it comes to, have kept everything else I've taken off it. Am thinking about the brakes alright, and for once am thinking that it might be too cool not to do....

more thoughts?

And more consistent and controllable comp damping, and easy comp adjustment, and consistency in weather changes.

AND rebound adjustment is the single most useful thing to have!

i'm not knocking a full GSXR front conversion far from it

if you have the cash then it's by far the best way to go and turns a good bike into a cracking bike.

for the record i think the GSXR brakes are overkill on the SV. well mine are as you just think about braking and your at a standstill.

cheapest way is srad (due to the front wheel). best i would say is k4-5 600/750. hardest thing to get your hands on is a decent front wheel if not srad.

depending on your weight your still going to have to re-spring the GSXR forks.

On curvy it is easiest to use SRAD front wheel with K4 setup anyway

would that not depend on the yokes being used

srad yokes and spindle with later legs and you would keep the steering lock on a curvy and be able to use srad wheel.. good thinking Y_C
