Hi all
Looking at getting a leather jacket but I'm on a fairly low budget of £110 max. Found 3 potentials, but one from eBay i'm a bit sceptical about but i'll go into that in a sec. The three: Frank thomas pacific red: http://shop.motorcyclenews.com/produ...leather-jacket http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/X-men-Fash...item4abe7315c5 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2510882663...84.m1423.l2649 Now the third one (lucky strike) seems to be from a fairly reputable eBay dealer so I'm not too worried about that particular one. However, there are other sellers selling the same jacket for cheaper prices, but both some somewhat dodgier and are not from as reputable sellers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1210403207...84.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3602211084...84.m1423.l2649 Now I know many of you will just say spent an extra 40 quid and get an RST one but the budget is strict and I simply can't afford to spend any more than that. Any advice appreciated! Dan |

From the sounds of it you wont be able to afford the petrol to ride anyway. So getting a new leather jacket is a fruitless act

Spend extra and get the RST!
Don't know I would want to trust the lucky strike jackets??? Whats the quality of the leather or the stitching like? Too late when sliding down the road at ?? mph!!! Looks more like a fashion item than a piece of safety equipment. Search for 'always wear your leathers' on here, not a pretty site. My two penneth worth!

unfortunately they only specify CE armour, not how well they are put together (the rest of the jacket isn't CE approved), so without the "feel" test or a well known brand you have no idea of the quality of the garment, most are made of a lighter and softer leather than used to be the case, Personally I prefer the stronger ones, so only buy what I know or have seen in person, of course this carries a premium but worth it in the end after all it's protective wear first and fashion second
![]() Personally if money was tight I wouldn't rule out a decent secondhand one? Cheers Mark.

Yeh those are my worries, as they're not branded you can't vouch for quality of stitching etc.
@Mark yeh I've started looking at secondhand ones, starting to think the best bet would be to go for something branded. With regards to the Frank Thomas one though, I would have snapped that up had I not heard stories about their ****e quality. Anyone got any experience with this particular jacket? Dan |

As well as eBay check out Preloved. You can search in your area and don't have to commit to buying so can go and try on if the seller is cooperative. I got a full set of Hein Gericke all season textiles for £60 and they'd been worn twice by the seller's wife. Bargain.
