Default 33bhp restrictor kit question

Hi,
I have just restricted my 08 sv650s with the air box and throttle stop kit and I was wondering if I left the throttle flat out for long periods would it harm the bike because it is only revving at 7000rpm?

I wouldn't of said so, I would've probably said if you leave it flat out at a higher revs it'll do more damage. So at 7k you'll probably be better off?

I might be completely wrong though

My 04 is restricted in the same way and its often flat out on my trip to work and home when you hit the revs when the limiter kicks in it bogs down and gets a bit jerky if you get what I mean.
But im about 6 months in and the bike is still great so I wouldn't worry about doing any damage.

Interesting point I friend of mine has taken his restrictors off his 06 sv and is now getting over 20 miles more out of a tank of fuel.

Not tried the ECU way or restricting?

Won't do it much good as it will be running rich.

Better to use just enough throttle to get the power out and no more.

Mine was ECU restricted, but I rode an SV with throttle and Air Box restrictions in place. The difference between the two was interesting, my bike was more lively and would use a lot more of the rev range and the throttle was fully operable. On long runs I would sit quite happily at an indicated 80MPH holding the throttle as fully open as I could and this would put the needle at roughly between 6.5K and 7K depending on the incline of the road. With regular servicing all was OK and she ran fine right up until I put the full power ECU back in. I barely notice the difference around town until I give her a good fist full and she goes like a scalded kitten!

Pedant: The speed and revs are intrinsically linked regardless of incline

With the ECU restriction they tend to run without any issues, but the restrictor washers can a lot of the time give problems due to running rich.

I traveled from Essex to Cornwall on the restricted ecu and was cruising at an indecated 90mpg on the motorways with ease even with my lardy **** lol. It's gets to 90 and then tails off on the power and very happy with its current performance.
