I'd like to swap my K3 swingarm with a K5+ swingarm (650 ofc)
Is it just a straight swap? Easy to do? Would I need to replace the chain? Cheers Tim |

I would say dont do it as your frame and swingarm will be a diff colour and may put people off when you come to sell it. Unless you keep the original and stick it back on ofc.
I think you would have to at the least out a new soft link in it as you will need to cut (or take out a link with a chain breaker) the chain that is on there atm. Tom

K3 swingarm is slightly curved compared to the later K4 onwards models, that have straight arms

As far as I'm aware all pointy 650 swing arms are interchangeable. The only reason to swap it would be colour, and you may as well change that when you paint the frame, but it's up to you. The swing arm for the sv650 may be longer than for the sv650s, so just worth trying to get the right one. You shouldn't need to cut the chain as unlike braced gsxr items the chain doesn't go through it.
You will need a specific tool to remove the swing arm, and a method of holding the bike securely without using the swing arm pivot, swing arm, or rear wheel Jambo Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Sorry to threadjack but are there any other style swing arms that can be swapped relatively easily? Ya know a fancy one from a different as apose to the boring straight barred one on the SV?

nope, when the k3 came out, it had a different swing arm and rear subframe, and was taller than the later models.
the swing arm curves out from the pivot point a little if i remember right, sure someone will correct me if im wrong |

Swingarms are the same, it is only the rear subframes that are different. What makes you say the swingarms are different? I have a K3 and a K4 and the swingarms look identical.
