Default Road Advice

Is this bit of road any good? (A7 Hawick to Langholm)

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr...ra=ls&t=m&z=10

I've never used it, and was wondering what you guys think of it...

straight and fast nothing exciting but an efficient way of getting from A to B

used to use it a lot from carlisle to edinburgh because I was getting sick of the motorway

Talking Re: Road Advice

Yaaaaawwwwnnnnnn.

Very fast, big sweeping bends, fair amount of traffic and very boring. Use it to get into the borders quickly but not fun. Also can be very cold as the sun does not get on the road in the winter months.

I used it on my last ride of 2012 to get to Race of Reivers thing at end of October ish. We were ok until we left Langholm and rode to Hawick - road was icy and by the time we got to Hawick my hands were frozen solid.

Hugs.

I did the a7 from edinburgh to galashiels in 2010 - I know that I enjoyed it but can't remember much about the roads for some reason, was a 4-5 hour jaunt

Having ridden other roads in scotland since, it probably pales into insignificance - you done the wester coastal trail man? WOOF!

You should come up for more roads more often... In the bike not that car thing you seem to have a thing for at the moment I'm hoping its just a winter thing Mr Wilson

I was thinking about this or something like it as a route for a monthly run http://goo.gl/maps/q9JKb

But the time is a bit of a worry which is why I thought about that stretch of the A7.

well it's looking like I might up to do another tour of scotland around july august time so will definitely be stopping by buddy. Not thought about bikes through all of winter but now spring is in sight I'm tempted by something like a v-strom 1000 for some proper long distance adventures..

that's along the same idea of one of my favourite runs but i do this: http://goo.gl/maps/zy5Xt sometimes i'll go down to moffat via st marys and sometines i go over into innerleithen then up the golf coarse road to the A7.

most of the roads down there were my playground on the bike when i was younger
