Does it damage the engine when i throttle off it sometimes pops, Its because i have no baffle in the exhaust, But does this do any damage to the engine?

Mine does the same. I have a viper end can with the baffle removed. I think it may be unburned fuel igniting, although I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Personally I've never worried about it though.

Mines restricted and pops and farts when I come of the throttle I took the baffle out and I sounded great lol

Backfiring is when unburnt fuel hits the hot exhaust pipes a ignites, And as far as i know it wont do a thing because the pressure isn't trapped, It will not do anything unless it is a REALLY big backfire and if so could blow an exhaust slip on off (Very Unlikely) but unless you have like fuel pouring into your exhaust that wont happen so dont worry about it, enjoy it as it sounds awesome and if you feel you want to go get it checked then do so, all i can say is your fine don't worry, Mine is restricted and have a un-baffled exhaust and backfires alot, Never really done anything bad really!
EDIT: Also MOTs wont fail for backfiring, and no a service properly wouldn't cause it, all it is, is slight over fueling from the ECU (I mean VERY slight) Last edited by Lume; 26-02-13 at 05:57 PM. |

my late k5 had a carbon viper race can on it and that backfired to buggery, it never seemed to do the engine any harm although it did burn the packing out of the cand and blew a hole through the carbon, viper very nicely accepted it back and provided me with a new one. so keep an eye on carbon pipes if backfiring a lot.
It dous sound good though ![]() |

Just unburned fuel. No damage but a little tip it does make the clothes of the opposite sex fall off in awe!!
