I always find that on my SV that i can get a lot more mileage from the front tyre, and i can near enough get 2 rear tyres to 1 front. Maybe it's the set up of the bike/my riding style. I know the power goes to the rear, and it effectively takes more abuse. I run sport turning tyres, so it maybe the different compounds between the 2 tyres.
I was wondering what other people find? |

I don't have a SV yet, but that is typical to all other bikes I have owned, and scooters. A front wheel drive car eats front tyres quicker, etc.

Sv's have low down grunt so tend to eat rear tyres...

Low down grunt would mean you were travelling slowly

On Dunlop Roadsmarts I went through the front and rear at the same rate. The rear squared off due to the miles of commuting, and the front got a blister which burst, but they were both just off the wear markers so got a pair fitted. On the previous Roadattacks I was getting two rears to a front. The difference, other than brand, is the Roadsmarts have the multi-compound areas so I guess the wear rates have been evened out.

Snap, for the second half of the route! It's more fun when you don't know what's around the corner

Two to one is a fairly typical wear rate unless your riding style is very hard.If you do a lot of hard braking and really push the front end into corners you will wear the front, but otherwise it mostly just goes round and round while the rear does all the hard work pushing the bike along.

My rear has also been killed by a motorway run, edges are fine, centre is getting towards the legal limit. |
