Hi
I have a SV650s and was wondering if anyone can recommend best ways to lock it up using chain and anchor? ![]() At the moment the chain is just going through the back wheel but really want to find some way to get it going through the frame? Have found a hoop at the bottom of the rear suspension, is this better than the back wheel? Also looked into an Anti pinch pin http://securityforbikes.com/anti-pinch-pin.php ![]() Have got a 19" chain on order so might only have the option to lock via rear wheel unless i purchase the anti pinch pin? ![]() Thanks for your time and help. ![]() Last edited by Malice19; 12-03-13 at 12:25 PM. |

put the chain through the frame if you can, if its a pointy sv the triangular holes in between the frame rails are an option if your chain will fit through there. and an anchor is a good option if you can get it mounted into something very hard and very heavy, if not then just do whatever you can to make the bike a pig to move and take a look at alarm disc locks if the bike is not alarmed.
just through the back wheel is a bit weak as an organised thief/s will either pick the bike up and plonk it in a van or siply remove the wheel from the bike in order to rob the bulk of the bike and leave you with your wheel and chain. Make the scum's lives as difficult as possible and if you think you can do more to protect your bike then do it |

No problem, no biker likes seeing/hearing of someone's bike getting nicked let alone when its your own bike. I have to admit i'd not seen this pin jobby before and after looking at your link it looks quite interesting and like a good substitute for not getting a chain through the frame. I might well look into getting one for my bike.
Do you have something solid that you can mount an anchor too? |

sorry i forgot to ask with regards to the "HOOP" at the bottom of the swing-arm do you mean the hole where the shock goes through the arm, if so then if you can squeeze the chain through there then this could be a possible alternative to through the frame or getting a pin

Yep, that's where mine goes, but again it's quite a tight spot to get a chain through even though it looks nice and easy. Mainly used it as my chains a bit shorter and I couldn't reach all the way to the frame. |

well it depends how well prepared the scum is...
if you look at it in worst case terms and they have scouted your bike to the point that they know what days and times your at work or at a girlfriends or whatever chances are they will have EVERYTHING they need to have your bike away regardless of security but this level is usually targeted on the new triumphs, ducati's, new gixxers, fireblades, basically anything with a few k's worth of suspension and wheels and a high value motor and frame. best case they'll turn up with a van crow bar and bolt croppers and be defeated within minutes and do one. like i said best option is through the frame spar's as you would have to literally dismantle the whole bike to make it worth nicking and that's not worth the hassle so if you want to be truly confident of its security rack your head and keep measuring any gaps and holes you can find until you figure out a way to get a chain through frame rails |

And 1 tip if you use a ground anchor make sure you mount it using the heavy duty metal equivalent of raw plugs and hardened bolts that have an allen key drive that way you can hammer a ball bearing into the hole after fitting to prevent the anchor from being removed from the floor and then you've got one stubborn son of a bi*ch security system
![]() http://securityforbikes.com/torc-gro...hp#fittingkits the second picure on their site shows how the bolts should look after fitting and bearings knocked in |
