Ive recently brought my SV and after the first 2 weeks I had to replace my throttle position sensor as it wouldnt start. I got the TPS from a K5 SV (I know the history of the K5 it was fine) and now I have 60 miles to a tank D: which is 23 MPG (roughly).
.I have a 33bhp restriction (throttle + air intake) .The brakes aren't binding .The chain is fine to my knowledge .I don't ride completely recklessly Would I need to get it re-mapped? any help greatly appreciated ![]() |

I'm afraid it's no good. I can offer you £50 and a mars bar for it. Best you'll get for one when that happens...
Pull your plugs out, have a look at them. If they're properly black chances are it's running too rich. Could be a fuel leak somewhere along the line (whether tank/or fuel lines) That is pretty poor so chances are it's something pretty drastic that should be obviously when it's found. |

If that mpg is accurate I'm surprised it will actually run. That's typically twice the correct amount of fuel used, way too rich for an engine to run under normal circumstances.

Just to offer a slightly different angle... check your air filter too... i got a 33% increase in fuel economy by changing from a re-useable K&N to a standard paper filter!

My original TPS was faulty and wouldnt let the bike start in the first place, I checked it with a voltmeter and the voltage flowing through it was irattic, so I replaced it and set it to kick in at 2K revs and it was running beautifully but the fuel light came on at 60 miles. I've been doing some thinking and I am doing very short journeys (3 miles) in the almost freezing cold (not above 5 centigrade)
I've put the TPS back to 3K now and I will see how I get on. What would a throttle body adjusment do? cheers for the replies btw ![]() |
