Default '05 Pointy banging into 1st gear

Hi there guys, First post on here and advice would be very much appreciated

I recently bought an 05 sv650s and the gear box seems to clatter and crunch into first gear sometimes (the sort of noise you get if you tried shift gear without the clutch while holding the throttle open). It isn't consistently all the time and after I've shifted down and its made that crunch, if I shift up into second and then back down it does it fine All the other gears seem to be smooth as anything.

Doesn't sound too healthy but I've heard the gearboxes on the Sv's can be a bit noisy? Anyone got any ideas on what it could be or is it normal?

Cheers guys

Clutch & mech clean adjust. That would sort it.

EDIT: also make sure the chain is looking good, correctly adjusted & lubed. A removal of the front sprocket cover & a general clean up of the whole area helps prevent any further issues with 'gunked' up mech.

If it feels like a "knock" into 1st gear, rather than a crunch. It's completely normal.
My K4 pointy does the same thing going into first occasionally.

First adjust clutch:

If it still does it, try pulling the clutch in and holding it for a few seconds before selecting first gear, this can improve things as the clutch has a moment to separate and thus pass less torque before you suddenly arrest the inner with a gear.
If the problem is worse when it's hot, and adjustment doesn't improve matters, then the plates are hanging in a worn clutch basket, which is annoying, but can be dear to fix, so you'd have to decide whether it's bad enough to warrant getting your wallet out.

I worked on my clutch and filmed it. My other half then edited out my swearing, crying and sulking!

This may give you an idea of how to get your clutch adjusted.
