I know you can get day insurance for a car/van I assume you can do the same with motorbike?
I google search which pulled up a few sites, none of them were any good they either didn't work or that said they insured bikes then, on getting to a quote they didn't insure bikes. |

I've literally just got off the phone insuring my dads car for a few days.
Not sure about for bikes though; if you know the person who owns the bike then you could ring their insurers and ask to be temporarily added to the policy. |

I've searched everywhere in vain for this kind of cover, plentiful for cars and vans, but for bikes is no where to be seen. Norwich union or aviva or whoever it is that quotes me happy might do 7 days as part of a finance deal or when organised through a dealer..
But for bikes the only one cover I've found is where it's a rolling monthly cover you can cancel at any time - but when I did a quote it was like £170/month = just do a full year for another £100-200 more and have done with it. It's a bit crap but I guess bikes are high risk vehicles with the main risk being you riding the thing, so 1 day cover would be a bit of a minefield for brokers and underwriter's to deal with if there's a claim.

No, if you look hard enough you will find what you need. They do exist. The problem is that the excess is normally ridiculous and unless you really only need it for a short time as a one off, it really doesn't make financial sense as opposed to say TPFT.

You need to surrender the tax and SORN if it is not insured, so every time you wanted to do a days riding you need to insure, then tax, ride, stop insurance, SORN.
Particularly nasty piece of recent legislation. https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-insurance/uninsured-vehicles |
