Default Clutch adjuster screw replacement - how?

To replace the clutch adjuster screw is it as simple as...
  1. Slacken off the clutch cable
  2. remove the cable from the adjuster screw arm
  3. unbolt the adjuster and remove
  4. reverse of above to refit

I have anew adjuster screw arriving tomorrow, but need the bike on the road in the afternoon!!!

Pretty much yeah, you'll obviously have to adjust the new unit once fitted, as in slacken off the nut turn the central screw until it contacts the rod behind it, back it off 1/8 or a turn and hold the screw in place with a screwdriver and lock the nut down around it.

Cheers Mark.

Cheers Mark!

I like to know what I am letting myself in for, especially as the bike has to be on the road every day. I'm guessing I missed the obligatory points:

3 1/2. Chase some small parts over the garage floor whilst not getting small stones pushed in to the palms of my hands.
5. Realise once again that I didn't put the inspection gloves on and now I have oil stained hands for the rest of the weekend.
and 6. Having to justify the expenditure of £43 to the wife as it is clearly extortion for the part despite the recent unquestioned £300 repair bill to her car.

How many years have I been riding now, and I still haven't learnt how to avoid those 3 points?

Oh helpful hint, it's not uncommon to find once back together it seems not to fit right, generally the adjuster bracket is on the wrong way round.

To negate this take a number of digital photos, before/during dismantling, if not needed just delete them.

Cheers Mark.

Cheers again.

One trick I have learned and remembered is to photograph every thing throughout, if only to be able to back track and put the old bits back in!
(the other trick has been to print off the relevant pages of the workshop manual so they can get as wet and oily as they like - they are only trashed afterwards. Unfortunately the Clutch Adjuster screw removal isn't in the workshop manual!)

Cheers again Mark

It took about 20 minutes in total to get the job done including cleaning the tools after.
It's like a different bike!
