Pointy tyre size?

Good morning,

I am thinking of getting a new tyre maybe following the puncture i had.

Does anyone know the specs of the tyre i need to get . No I am no lazy checking the existing tyre but thought I ask in case the current tyre isn't the right one

Also what brand and where will you get it from ? how much should I expect to pay ( 90ish ?)

Finally do you guys think it is possible to fit bigger ( width) tyre to my bike as on R6 or supersport bikes?
would it improve traction ? or will it reduce speed, acceleration?

but you could always go for something sportier if that's your thing, depends what you want out of your tyres this website tends to be fairly cheap and the tyres are new stock, but everything depends on what you want out of them.

that looked very cheap as I thought it is pair but realised it is a single tyre .

Do you think i could fit a bigger size? like 170 or 180 ? what would be the advantage or disadvantageous?

Im not sure how big a tyre you can fit on that rim, but from what ive read before a bigger tyre will just make the handling worse

tyres on the SV are pinched already and going up a size makes no odds in fact and this is a personal thing i think it would be worse handling.

the nice thing about the SV is it's quick steering, handling and lightness with a fantastic real world usable v-twin engine. put better bouncy bits on and it transforms the bike.

These are probably the next ones i will buy for my bike once ive thrashed the sh!t out the old ones haha

There's a tyre section on here, people will recommend generally whatever they have fitted at the time as so few people actually ride fresh tyres back to back whatever they fit always feels better than a knackered tyre coming off. I've fitted the same size and model of tyre a few times and found the difference in new and old tyres to be great.

Personally I'd say go for a sports-touring tyre. If you keep an eye on the pressures and ride smoothly you can get pegs and knees down on track days and get 10,000 miles out of the tyre on the road.

Budget something like £240 for both tyres ride in, ride out, less if you take the loose wheels in yourself. If you're going to buy tyres online, make sure you know what your local garage will charge to fit them first, it can remove the savings quite quickly.

The 160 width is already the widest recommended tire for the wheel width.
Keep in mind also, wider tires are more expensive and heavier. Heavier as far as unsprung weight goes is bad for handling. Heavier as far as gyroscopes like wheels/tires go, is also bad for handling.
If there was a benefit to wider tires on the SV, club racers would be using them. They aren't.

They don't run a wider tyre but I've heard some talk of them using 120/70 (different aspect ratio) on the front, apparently stops you running out of front tyre tread before the back. Probably not hugely relevant on the road though.
