HI All,
I am raising up my bars and have got a 3 1/2 inch riser and some BMW GS adventure handle bars with quite a rise in them and wider too. I am looking for comfort really as the stock position was too forward and I am keen to tour. What I would like to know is how much have people raised their bars up and how much? I attach a photo too of the empty bar and riser on my sv I did try it and I didn't know what to think. Also the angle of the top bars for the wrists if anyone has advice. In the photo the stock bars are foreshortened and they are not a 3rd longer again as they look. Apologies for the flames and the tank sticker not my taste I swear. Thanks so much |

Looks crazy high, try riding a s model. When I did a bar conversion for my s the stock naked risers seemed like heaven in comparison!
Anyway back on topic, the only person I know that has put on higher risers is jayneflakes. Pm her or search her posts and she posted pictures. She did need custom lines all made up though, something to consider? |

Jayneflakes checking in!
Yes, I did put a very high rise set of bars on my SK3 and kept the fairing too, which took some doing. Anyway, my build thread is here and it has pics of modifications I am continuing to make. One serious point that was made to me by my Step Son that I had not considered was the Pillion. He has stated that as a pillion it is harder to ride because my position does not allow him to lean forward as much. However, he mainly rides his own bike so I carry his Mrs more than him. Anyway, my bars are about six or seven inches higher than standard and my bike is super comfy for touring now, especially with my new seat. ![]() If you are local to Weston Jon, come on down to Bike Night on a Thursday and give her a sit. The bars are lovely. ![]() |

Hi Jayneflakes ,
I had not realised that about the pillions. I rarely carry pillions so it should be ok. What kind of seat did you get I was looking for a reasonably priced seat but could find anything. Have you done many miles with the bars up ? thanks for your mod thread very interesting. I have bought and fitted throttle and clutch from a sv1000 they are rather too long if anything. The two switchgear reach too just about and I am taking it to the shop to get brakes hopeing to get my rise before the end of the week. regards |
