I think the Top Gear guys must have know this program was following it, hence the Britian is da shiz segment at the end.
I watched the first half hour and was falling asleep on the sofa so went to bed, found it a bit boring, was all about VW, would have probably watched more if it was about BMWs

Problem is that the presenter brought nothing new to the table and just put the boot in.
Probably wears VW undercrackers. Didnt mention Japan once. Or got a single guy in to say anything nice about British cars. Didn't mention that BMW made bubble cars. Maybe his German masters told him to edit that out. |

Four wheel drive invented by Ferguson tractors.Ex British designers made VW the name it is.Why did they, the Germans buy RR? BMW have soft transmissions for the engines and will wiggle out of anything they can.
Leading power survey cars for reliability,Honda,Toyota and Nissan all built in Britian. Make out of that program what you will. Hopefully some day we will get the praise that our engineers deserve. Last edited by Dicky Ticker; 06-08-13 at 07:36 AM. |

Watched the rest of it last night, he even had the cheek to suggest German music was better simply because Kraftwerk made a more sucessful album than Slade in 1978!
Yes, cause we're all listening to German music now aren't we. The only real reason that he managed to find that German cars were better than British ones were the Germans advertise a "brand" rather than a car, which is the thing I hate about car advert. I bought my BMW because it's fast, economical, well built and shouldn't depriciate too quickly, not because (as the stupid 80s middle class woman said) it's all about status. The "reporter" clearly didn't have a clue However it must be the first program I have seen where they mention the 80s and don't show that clip of the yuppie in the wine bar with a bottle of Rolling Rock in his hand and a wad of 50s in his top pocket.
