Default Rear Master Cylinder: Curvy/Pointy

Hi All,

Trying to fit rearsets this afternoon, and I can't get my rear master cylinder undone - cheesy bolts.

Could drill it and buy a new bolt... but might also be easier to buy a master cylinder from ebay.

Have found one for a Curvy... question is, will it fit a pointy?

Drill it Dave. Mine did it on the curvy, weakened the rear of it with a 3mm bit and drilled the head out

Ha, my 3mm screwfix cheapo ****e drill bit snapped inside the last bolt. Really annoying, it was bent brand new out of the box shouldn't have used it. Going to have to drill it from the other side now but will leave that as a job for another day and going to buy a master cylinder so next time I have chance to look at the bike I can be slapping on a new master cylinder and riding it!

there is no need to drill with a pilot drill, just go ahead and drill the head off then once the heads off it's just a case of turning out the thread which usually comes out with no hassle using mole grips or a slot cut in the top then a flat bladed screwdriver. tapping the thread with a small hammer also helps break the crud up inside the threads.

Slotted the head first bibs got a big ass flat blade and put a lever on it and it just sheared off a chunk of the bolt head!
Drilling with the snapped drill bit in there is just destroying my other drill bits

Tommo any word on that master cylinder? Quite wanting it before the weekend. Might have to buy from evil bay

wind the broken drill bit with a punch out. once the head is off there is no force on the threads.

for future reference. if it wont move or feels like its going to chew the top then use a impact driver on it. remember to 'whack it with a big hammer' not tap it
