Default My day could have almost been a lot worse!

Going on holiday tomorrow, so whilst on my way to work this morning I realised I will be off the bike for a week or so, listening to the boys argue and fight (5 and 3), I decided to blow away a few cobwebs. Just a few...
Whilst enjoying the twisties, I have to ride down a stretch of road nicknamed the crooked mile, it's nice .
Whilst momenterily forgetting about work etc etc, it all happened really quickly.
I entred a corner, only slightly quicker than I should have been, honest officer.
Only to find an M3 convertable in my lane overtaking a car and one of those massive earth moving trucks! Thought my time had come.
Lets just say someone was looking out for me and the gap on the outside was just big enough.. thank god..

As I say my day could have almost been a lot worse..
Gentle ride home tonight, looking forward to spending some time with the kids.
Ride safe, when it goes wrong it all happens pretty quickly.

Certainly does mate, that's why going round blind corners at speed is so bloody risky, it's only a matter of time before there is something in your path.

That's exactly what I mean, imagine the outcome if the rider had been going twice as fast?

it's one of those pant changing moments... and makes you take stock of what's important in life, as life can be cut short sometimes.

We like to think we can avoid dangerous situations while riding but sometimes **** happens beyond your control.
Perfect example here.

Glad to hear it all turned out well for you!
Enjoy your holiday!

Ride to your vision and adjust your speed so you can stop within it.
Easy to say but on a road that you know we all tend to be a bit exuberant at times, especially if it has nice flowing corners.
Life is about learning from your mistakes and not repeating them.
Had a few heart stoppers myself over the years with silly parking, broken down vehicles and people on the wrong side of the road because they have over cooked it.

well done for being an alert rider and not panicking. you save the day with your skill and riding ability. a lot of people would have just slammed the brakes on and shut their eyes you on the other hand calculated your escape route and went for it.
