Talking Apple Ipod Nano

I found my Ipod Nano and have been using it in the garage thru my seperates stereo, means i don't have to keep stopping working on the bike to change CD's although sound is not as crisp.

Anyway, i installed all the tunes onto it on from a laptop that is now dead. If i try to add more tunes, ITunes will not recognise that i am the owner and my only option is to wipe it and start again. Unfortunately all the tracks would need ripping back onto my new laptop. What a PITA ! Took me ages last time and don't want to do it again. It's like Apple have my tunes but won't let me have ownership. Can't take them off the Ipod and put back on laptop! Won't let me add or remove tunes either, just wants to empty and start again.

Is there any way or clever software hack that will let me take the tunes off of it, as if it were just a flash drive?

Default Apple Ipod Nano

Way back in the dim and distant past Winamp had a useful i-thingy plug in, that wasn't at all fussy.
No idea if it still exists, or if it does if it will work with a Nano.

Default Apple Ipod Nano

Try searching for a program called senuti, was recommended a few years back by the apple reseller in town when I had a similar issue.

If disc usage is enabled you can just navigate to it through win explorer I believe.

Do you still have the original laptop?

You just need to authorise your new comp which may mean deleating all the old ones if you have 5 in there.

Then if you will be able to plug it in and do the necessary.

That won't work. As he doesn't have the files on new pc it will wipe the contents and reload what is in the new library.

He needs to get those files on to the pc first.

Creating a new backup "might" work but I can't guarantee it.

Its a piece of pie.

Plug iPod into new computer
Log into iTunes account that the iPod is registered to.
Make sure that iTunes can see iPod
Close iTunes
Go into Windows explorer
Find iPod and open
Find music files (Will have 4 letter codes n stuff)
Copy these files onto your laptop into a directory or the iTunes music folder
Re-open iTunes
Select 'File Add Folder' (Folder where you put the tunes)
And away it should go.

99% of the time this works. If you have any DRM stuff that you have bought from iTunes, you can redownload them, or contact itunes and they will make what you have purchased available for download (Just the once mind)

iTunes itself is a one way tool. You can not copy stuff off the iPod onto your computer using the software and nor can you on most others.

Easy peasy Squeezy Lemons

Even easier way (doesn't allow for DRM to be copied)

Plug it in so that it shows in windows explorer
Then show the hidden folders
You should see a Itunes folder, it will show the files as F00 to F99
Copy them to the computer and import to itunes
