Anyone going to the Aragon MotoGP? Planning on camping at the circuit for the duration of the GP. Anyone else camped there? What are the facilities like? Not been before, but have visions it will be like the Catalan GP, where the one shower didn't have a back i.e. three sides! Ooer missus. Still going though!

Got back at the week-end. For future reference, the "pitch" at the official campsite was big enough for a four man tent and two motorbikes (and no more!) and cost 40 Euros for the pitch and 40 Euros each per bike and rider. There were ample showers in separate areas for females and males (although this didn't stop males using the females, because of the queues at the males). Toilets (portaloos) were cleaned on a regular basis and replenished with loo roll. There was a big marquee with a bar and music and you could buy bags of ice, bread, etc. My only gripe was that there was no grass on the "pitch", only gravel. The only other Brits I saw were in motorhomes (obviously camped there before!).
BTW, the crowd at Aragon cheered on every overtaking manoeuvre, regardless of nationality (obviously some cheers were bigger than others) something I don't remember seeing at Donington when Moto GP's were held there. Had a great time, but flippin' hot! |

As you can see, the "camp-site" is just a big gravel field! This was taken on the Monday morning after all the locals went away home on the Sunday night. This was taken at about 7 in the morning and what you can't see is how hot it was.
Thanks go to the Combatfreds for suggesting Salamanca, but by this stage I wanted to head somewhere cooler.....so Andorra it was! After that it was Carcassone via Ax-les-Thermes, Avignon, Bourg-en-Bresse (lovely wee detour around Les Grottes de Balmes (?) following a dozen French Ewan and Charlies), an afternoon driving city centre Nancy (not sure if it was a TomTom or BobBob melt down), up through Luxembourg and across to the Moselle, before a 250 mile dreich trip up to Ijmuiden for the ferry! The temperature got decidedly chilly the further north we went. |
