Default Helmet - New one needed?

I currently have a Nitro NP-1100F lid with pin lock fitted and was fairly happy with it, it does fit well, is a little weighty but had a couple of stars from SHARP and mostly was within budget when I had to go and buy trousers, gloves jacket and lid on the same day!!

I say was happy because when I did my DAS it was 30 degrees and any wind was pleasant, now, the wind is a little chillier and I have noticed it is a bit windy inside the visor is this to be expected or are all lids a little"gappy".

I am thinking of getting a new one at some point as replacing the original gear was always on the cards, so could do with some recommendations, have been looking at the AGV s4 SV or anything sub £200 really, am I wanting too much for a quiet, windless lid?

Depends how fast you ride. I find fit is a bigger concern then noise, as you can always use plugs. i've a Nitro as well. F341-VN , (the mrs has one too) and i've no issue other than the noise at speed. I never get cold wearing it, despite it being a flip front. I've fitted bluetooth and can happily listen to music at up to 70 with that.

You've shut all the vents right? (silly question but has to be asked)

C.

Hjc have been my helmet of choice for the past 7 years. I currently have the Hjc r pha like Lorenzo but in different colour scheme. Cost me £150 which includes tinted visor clear visor which both are pin lock ready. It's really light weight and quiet but I do wear earplugs always have.

Cheers for the replies, yeah all the vents are shut, its not ridiculously severe but pretty annoying.

Whats the benefit of ear plugs? I can understand a Walkman (ok mp3 player) for some music but ear plugs, its not that noisy even at speed!

Maybe years of working on site and playing guitar with headphones has made me more deaf than I thought !?

HJC have some nice lids too, haven't tried any on yet though.

I have an AGV S4. Its really comfy but it's the noisiest piece of kit I've ever had. The wind noise whistling through drowns out the exhaust on my bike ffs! I've tried taping up the air vents and different visors but it still sounds crap. Stay away.

Edit: you will definitely need ear plugs with this lid. The benefits are you won't be deaf by the end of the year if you buy one of these.

Regards ear plugs it's the best bit of advice I've ever listened to. Plenty of hard of hearing bikers who use to tear around with no helmets or pudding lids.

Got an AGV stealth sv.

Nice and comfy and I don't think the noise is too bad. But then I am plugged in 95% of the time so could just be that.

Otherwise as someone else said, fit is the most important thing, get a lid in your budget that has good ratings and fits well. Noise can be over come.

Also I use a buff so don't feel much if any wind or cold on my face when riding. Even through the winter.

most draughts come from under the chin guard so get a helmet with a chin curtain.

Mine had one of those, until I broke it, but that along with a buff is a def winner!
