Default Insurance database errors?

We have just had a nasty letter from the motor insurance database MID saying our SV is uninsured and we may be liable to prosecution.I have checked the policy and we renewed it last October and the money came out of the bank at that time.We have a certificate. Its a longstanding policy with ebike so I tried to contact them but I cant afford the premium rate phone call so sent an email via their standard menu system. There is no option on the menu for WTF has happened to the database. We await a response.Anyone else had issues with this database being wrong?

I'm with Ebike and all is well with my policy. Are you sure the letter is genuine and spoken to the MID? (http://www.askmid.com/)

I don't see why MID would contact you directly. VOSA/DVLA yes to say your bike is taxed/MOT'd but not insured but not MID.

Yes Biggles, I have and its one huge load of bolloc@s. I got home to a letter that said one of my bikes was not insured. I then wasted about an hour ringing them and my insurer. I knew I had renewed my insuraance so what triggers the letters? It took a number of days before my bike showed up as covered on the MID website.
Who are Mid ? Is it the government or something set up by insurance companies ?

It made my blood boil they seem to be some big brother type organisation who asnswer to nobody.Id love to know how I got a letter . I wonder if its something to do with ANPR cameras.
Anyone else got any knowledge?

MID is the Motor Insurance Database-it is who the Police & DVLA use to check if a vehicle is insured. They can only respond to the information they are given by the insurance companies.

My car is also not on the MID found out the other day. I spoke with the insurance company. They claim that it come off the MID 30 days before the end of the term. Anyhow I confirmed its a live policy so its all good.

While it won't stop you getting stopped at least you know your insured.
