Hi - Im new on here but not new to bikes, collecting this on sat & it'll be my 1st v twin - is there anything other than the ordinary things that I need to check with an SV?
Its done 18k miles, full service history etc Bike is here: http://www.evolutionmotorcycles.com/page9.htm Anyone dealt with Evolution motorcycles before? |

I've heard reasonably good things about them. I can't see with that mileage and history you'd have any issues TBH, SVs are pretty bulletproof.
Being a dealer/shop you'll have some comback if you have issues in any case. Looks a tidy bike! Enjoy! |

Provided it's been looked after you shouldn't have any worries. Things to note if you're not used to V-Twins:
1) The engine braking is greater than on an in-line 4, so just get used to it a little. 2) Some SV engines burn oil, some don't, certainly most seem to get through some. Keep an eye on it, it's easier to put the oil in than replace the motor. 3) You will probably want to change the exhaust for the noise ![]() Jambo

Stick a fender extenda on it if you are commuting. May save you in the rain from running 40bhp for a bit!

If your commuting every day and throughout the winter on it, get some acf50 and spray everything (not the brakes!) with it.
Having used mine daily, year in year out, it has been good, but the calipers can seize up and the gear/rear brake levers can get sticky, so you might want to give the gear/brake levers a drop of lubricant now and then and get some red rubber grease around the calipers pistons to keep the worst at bay.
